From March 2
The Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges disappointed by the end of free admission
Since 2018, interested Quebecers have been able to visit the museum free of charge on the first Sunday of every month. Some one hundred museum institutions across the province offered this measure to their clientele. As of Sunday March 2, this incentive will be a thing of the past in its current form, to the disappointment of many, including the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
As of that date, only young people under 20 will be able to benefit from this incentive at participating museums. The news broke this Monday morning in a letter from Deputy Minister Nathalie Verge.
At the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the disappointment is palpable. "We are very disappointed and surprised by this sudden change. We've been seeing more visitors on the first Sundays of the month, and we were very happy about that. We were receiving a compensatory amount that will probably be less in the coming months, since fewer people will be entitled to the free ride," explains communications officer Pascale Jeaurond-Lajoie, who was unable to say how much this amount would be on a monthly basis.
