Vaudreuil-Dorion named regional winner of Les Grands Prix de la CNESST 2023
The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion was recently awarded the title of Regional Winner in the “Innovation” category – Public Organizations at Les Grands Prix de la CNESST 2023 for La Caravane Mozaïk - the creation of a local library, cultural and technological space, inside a vehicle.
The design of such a vehicle carried with it certain risks related to ergonomics and the possibility of physical injury and musculoskeletal disorders for operating personnel, particularly when changes to the configuration would require the regular handling of loads.
Using a preventive approach, the project managers worked with a team composed of an ergonomist, industrial designers and the City’s Health and Safety Advisor to obtain proposals for layouts that would serve our needs while ensuring the safety of both City staff and citizens.
Annick Lemay, Head of the library division for the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, is delighted with the result: "Putting safety first is the approach followed by the City in all its day-to-day activities and it is what we kept in mind while designing the caravan. In addition to ergonomic professionals, several members of our staff were consulted to verify the different types of layouts. More than a year after the caravan was put into operation, employees say they are satisfied, and no incidents or accidents have been reported. Mission accomplished!"
"Our employees are doing a fantastic job at coming up with innovative ways to meet the needs of our citizens. La Caravane Mozaïk is a perfect example of this. This vehicle allows us to go out and meet our various clienteles and provide them with a variety of services such as book borrowing or creative and digital art workshops. I applaud this initiative, but most importantly, I wish to emphasize that it was carried out with the health and well-being of our employees and guests in mind. Congratulations to the entire team for this recognition from the CNESST!" said Olivier Van Neste, Director General of the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion.
