The speed limit on Chemin des Chenaux, between Rue Bédard and Autoroute 40, will be reduced to 30 km/h. The announcement was made at the last municipal council meeting held on October 2.

Proposed by district councillor Diane Morin, the request for a speed reduction on this stretch of Chemin des Chenaux is the result of sustained demand and strong mobilization from local residents.

A petition with over a hundred signatories was also presented to the council, highlighting the safety concerns of residents, particularly pedestrians and cyclists.

Over 90% of residents living along Chemin des Chenaux, between Rue Lafleur and Autoroute 40, want the speed limit reduced. A petition with over 100 signatories has been submitted to highlight the safety issue for residents, particularly pedestrians and cyclists.

For Councillor Morin, this is a major change for the citizens of her district. As an elected official, I consider it my duty to listen to the concerns of my fellow citizens and find solutions," explains Councillor Morin. I'm delighted that my proposal has been accepted by the municipal council. This speed reduction will ensure the safety not only of local residents, but also of pedestrians and cyclists who use this road", added Councillor Morin.

According to City Manager Olivier Van Neste, the change should take effect before the winter season.
