On Monday, November 11, the Municipality of Saint-Polycarpe announced that it had begun the process of acquiring land for the construction of a new fire station.

This initiative is part of a plan to strengthen municipal infrastructures in order to better meet fire department and public safety needs.

The project to build the new fire station at 2-4 Sainte-Catherine is designed to provide a modern, functional space adapted to the equipment and personnel required for emergency response.

At the council meeting, Mayor Jean-Yves Poirier suggested that the municipality could be eligible for a subsidy of up to 65% of the total investment. “This represents a significant opportunity for the municipality and its citizens ,” he said, although he could not confirm how much the investment might amount to.

We're certainly talking about a few million dollars, but at this stage we can't confirm the exact amount," adds Mr. Poirier.

The municipal administration assures us that if the grant cannot be obtained, the project will be re-evaluated to ensure its financial feasibility.

"The municipality is committed to transparency and to keeping the public informed of progress. A public consultation will also be organized to enable citizens to share their opinions and questions", concluded the mayor.
