Once again this year, the organizations of the Table de concertation en sécurité alimentaire de Vaudreuil-Soulanges are mobilizing to inform residents about the Christmas basket service.

A poster has been produced to inform citizens of the organizations serving their municipality. Registration is now open.

The approach of the holiday season is often a difficult time for many people, exacerbated by the current economic climate. In this context, the partners hope to :

- Promote access to the Christmas hamper service, offered specifically during the holiday season, for residents in need;

- By making available the contact details of the organizations for each of the municipalities in the territory. A helping hand that makes a difference.

A persistent increase at all levels

The data from the Suroît regional Hunger Count are touching. In 2024, Moisson Sud-Ouest helped 15,500 people every month. Over 35% of food aid recipients are children.

Thanks to data provided by the food security agencies served by Moisson Sud-Ouest, more than 1,000 food emergencies per month involve workers. More than 10% of food assistance cases involve precarious homeowners, and more than 35,000 snacks are distributed to children every month.

Throughout the province of Quebec, 47% of households assisted are families with children, and 20% of households receiving food aid have a job as their main source of income.

Moisson Sud-Ouest serves 18 accredited organizations in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC. Of these organizations, 995 people a month turn to Moisson Sud-Ouest for food assistance, including 38% of all those served.

Community organizations call on the public for various holiday collections. Contact your local organization to make your donations.
