To replace those cut down earlier this year
Les Coteaux to plant 260 native trees on its territory this autumn
This autumn, the Municipality of Les Coteaux will be planting 260 native trees in its parks, helping to preserve its environment and replace trees felled that were diseased or dead due to the emerald ash borer epidemic.
In 2024, a further planting of 300 native trees is also planned. Last spring, the community also planted edible flowerbeds in Wilson, Audrey and La Gazonnière parks, providing areas for biodiversity and harvesting for the community.
With a view to protecting its water resources, this fall the locality will be working with the Haut Saint-Laurent ZIP Committee to extend its riparian buffer strips at Promotuel Park.
In addition to filtering pollutants and sediments, riparian buffer strips also help stabilize the shoreline against erosion and support greater biodiversity.
