Fred, the groundhog from Val-Espoir on the Gaspé Peninsula, has stepped out of his burrow to make his annual February 2 prediction. According to tradition, if he sees his shadow, the cold season will last another six weeks. If, on the other hand, the animal doesn't see its shadow, we can expect an early spring.
Maison Charlebois: Petition against zoning change
Residents of Rigaud are circulating a petition to oppose a proposed bylaw to change the zoning of the Maison Charlebois. This change would allow the construction of multi-dwelling buildings in the zone.
Tariffs: How consumers will be affected

1.9 million in cuts at the Centre de services scolaires des Trois-Lacs
The Centre de services scolaires des Trois-Lacs (CSSTL) will cut up to $1.9 million from its budget for the 2024-2025 school year. This “budgetary effort” is required by the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec (MEQ) in order to respect the budget envelope granted by the latter for the fiscal year, and will have to be implemented by March 31.
Hudson Partners with Toit d’Abord on a project for 517 Main Road

A beaver dam requiring close monitoring by Nature-Action Québec
In the summer of 2023, Nature-Action Québec, whose mission is to guide individuals and municipalities in the application of best environmental practices, was informed of a particular situation that occurred on Mont Rigaud. The organization has learned that the beaver dam on one of its lots on Mont Rigaud, a protected property, had broken, resulting in the drying up of Lac aux Castors.

Rigaud's provincial peewee hockey tournament celebrates its 30th anniversary
The 30th edition of the Rigaud provincial pee-wee field hockey tournament got underway on February 6 at the Collège Bourget arena. A total of 26 teams in three categories - M13 A, M13 B and M13 C - will compete for top honors. Organized by the Knights of Columbus Club in collaboration with the City of Rigaud, the event runs from Thursday, February 6 to Sunday, February 9.
