By 2025, the Ville de Saint-Zotique would like to set up a first responder service on its territory. Discussions are currently underway between the municipal administration and its Fire Safety Department. 

“For the moment, no agreement has been reached, but we would like to see this project come to fruition in the coming year. Councillor Jean-Pierre Daoust has been asking us to consider this option for several years now. It's a service that can really save lives. If the discussions succeed and this initiative becomes a reality, we'll have to invest in its implementation. Thereafter, its operation will be financed annually from the accumulated surplus”, informed Mayor Yvon Chiasson at the special meeting held on December 17 to adopt the 2025 budget and the 2025-2027 three-year capital expenditure plan. 

The Chief Magistrate also announced that future first responders will have two new sports utility vehicles at their disposal to travel throughout the municipal territory. “That would mean we wouldn't have to wait for long minutes for the ambulance to arrive to help a citizen. Before considering other options, we wanted to talk to our firefighters to find out their interest in offering first responder service. Discussions are continuing,” he concluded.
