New Infant Spots at CPE Les Petits Mousses in Vaudreuil-Dorion
On Monday, October 28, Vaudreuil-Dorion's Centre de la petite enfance (CPE) Les Petits Mousses inaugurated its new nursery, making official the addition of 10 infant places to its rue des Muguets facility. The CPE can now accommodate 20 babies, bringing the total number of children attending the facility to 70.
A number of guests were present for the occasion, including CPE Les Petits Mousses General Manager France D'Amour, Vaudreuil-Dorion Facility Manager Joannie Langlois, members of the Board of Directors and Chantal Boudrias, representative of the Ministère de la Famille. Mélanie Maranda, representing the office of Vaudreuil MNA Marie-Claude Nichols, was also present, as were a number of parents and two educators.
In keeping with tradition, the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place in the Canotiers premises, as the toddler group is known. Equipped with a large, bright window, the Canotiers room is fully equipped to provide a warm and welcoming environment for the infants. A rest room has also been fitted out with 10 cribs, each identified with a child's name.
“This initiative demonstrates our commitment to the families and toddlers of our community. As you know, the region is growing, especially in Vaudreuil-Dorion, and I believe that with the addition of these 10 spaces, we are responding to a crying need in our region,” emphasized General Manager France D'Amour.
“Not only has this project enriched our work team, it has also strengthened our collaboration and commitment to our mission. Working on this project allowed us to explore new ideas and innovate in our practices with the opening of a double nursery. This was a first for the team, who had never before worked in a double group in the CPE facilities. Ten babies in one room is quite a challenge,” says Joannie Langlois, Assistant Director of the rue des Muguets facility.
“We're convinced that toddlers will be able to thrive with quality services day after day in this warm, modern environment. We would also like to thank the government for making this major project possible. This addition of spaces is a guarantee of a promising future for the CPE Les Petits Mousses family, and let me tell you that management has no shortage of ideas for the well-being of our community's children and families,” added Board Chair Sandrine Charpentier.
Invited to speak, young Roméo's mother, Debbie Tremblay, was delighted with this addition to the CPE. “We couldn't wait for the nursery to open. As a single mom, if I couldn't find a place in a daycare center, I couldn't go back to work, which caused me a lot of stress. Finally, when I got the magic call, it was a great relief. The adjustment went really well,” she says.
“I was very impressed by everyone's enthusiasm and dedication. It helped create a positive dynamic within our work team. This project has also enabled us to integrate new educators into our team and enrich our work group. I'm convinced that this new project will have a lasting impact on our community, and I'm very proud to have been able to contribute to it,” concluded Ms. Langlois.
