CACVS to enrich the cultural component of the Festival des couleurs
Presented at Parc Chartier-De Lotbinière, the long-awaited 26th edition of the Festival des couleurs de Rigaud, to be held from October 12 to 14, 2024, promises a celebration rich in nature, arts and culture. This year, the Conseil des arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges joins this not-to-be-missed event as a presenting partner.
As such, the CACVS is offering three elements that will enrich the cultural component of the Festival.
Los Trompos
The CACVS will introduce festival-goers to five special guests: Los Trompos! Los Trompos (“spinning tops” in Spanish) has its origins in a toy that has been popular with children the world over since the dawn of time. This large-scale interactive art installation invites visitors to enjoy an evocative and playful experience. Los Trompos comprises five larger-than-life, three-dimensional spinning tops in a variety of colors and shapes. The colorful surfaces of each spinning top are formed in part by canvases woven in traditional Mexican patterns. The canvases are stretched over the modules to allow several people to sit on them at the same time. Acting as both artwork and rotating platform, each sculpture becomes a gathering place for relaxation, social interaction and entertainment. Working together to give the tops momentum, visitors can spin them on their bases. Through interaction and collaboration, Los Trompos comes to life and lends new meaning to the art of play.
Accessible to all visitors, young and old, these giant spinning tops will be installed for the duration of the Festival. Los Trompos is a creation by Esrawe + Cadena, powered by Creos.
Clin d'oeil, le spectacle
Clin d'œil, le spectacle, presented by the CACVS, takes place on Sunday, October 13. This event will showcase local artistic talent in an original concept.
Under the artistic direction of Sylvain Poirier, author, composer and performer, discover culture in all its forms through performances by Laur Fugère, Elsie Morin, Pete Fortier, Light & Bubbly, Virginie Cummins and others. Two key figures in the festivities, Francis Désilets and Adélia la fée d'automne, will act as hosts. Jean-Marc Lavigne is responsible for writing the narrative.
Contamination culturelle arrives at the Festival des couleurs
Finally, the regional tour of the two-part outdoor exhibition Contamination culturelle concludes at the Festival des couleurs. The exhibition features the work of 10 Vaudreuil-Soulanges artists. For this edition, the 10 artists have been invited to create a work on the theme of the colors of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. Visitors will discover works by Isabelle Deprez, Karine Giguère, Gabriel Lalonde, Gabrielle Larouche, Marie-Ève Longtin, Johanne Mitchell, Émilie Parent, Isabelle Parson, Nathalie Plouffe and Céline Poirier. In addition, the works in this exhibition will be integrated into the stage set of Clin d'œil, le spectacle, in the form of a digital projection.
Contamination Interculturelle, Odyssée migratoire highlights the richness and complexity of intercultural interactions through the prism of migratory journeys. These photographs, by artist photographer Josiane Farand (L'art de capter), reveal the moments of connection, sharing and exchange that arise when cultural boundaries dissipate, giving way to true “intercultural contamination”.
The CACVS invites everyone to enjoy a log at the Festival des Couleurs de Rigaud from October 12 to 14!
