Île-Perrot-born triathlete Emy Legault was finally able to take the start in the women's triathlon event at the Paris Olympic Games on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old completed the 51.5km course in a time of 2h01.54s. It should be remembered that the triathlon was still in doubt, less than 24 hours before the start, due to the quality of the water in the Seine. Two training sessions were cancelled and the men's race postponed.

Fortunately for the athletes, water tests carried out a few hours before the start proved conclusive, and the event went ahead.

A course in the heart of the City of Light

The triathlon started from a floating pontoon at the foot of Pont Alexandre III. After a 1.5 km swim in the Seine, two loops - the first 910 m and the second 590 m - athletes had to climb 32 steps to reach the transition zone for the road cycling stage.

During the 40-kilometer bike ride, the triathletes passed some of Paris's most emblematic monuments, including the Grand Palais, the Champs-Élysées and the Quai d'Orsay.

At the end of the seven laps, the athletes returned to the transition zone on the Pont Alexandre III for the third and final stage, the run. On the program: a 10 km course - 4 laps of 2.5 km - in the heart of Paris, finishing on the Pont Alexandre III.
