Prominent regional history researcher Lise Chartier has been appointed to the board of directors of BECOMING ÎLE PERROT, an organization dedicated to the merger of the four towns of Île Perrot. With three published books on the island's history and over 20 years of research, Chartier brings a wealth of knowledge on the evolution of the island.

Her leadership during the 350th anniversary of the seignory of Île Perrot's celebrations in 2022 highlighted her commitment to the community.

Chartier's extensive analysis of the five town’s council meeting minutes has given her insight into the administrative challenges faced by citizens, particularly in infrastructure development and public services. She advocates for a unified approach to overcome the fragmentation that has existed since 1948, emphasizing the cost of division in both time and taxes for the island's residents.

“The energy that is wasted in squabbles over parts of streets, in fights over jurisdictions, in creating and breaking intermunicipal agreements, in discussions over colors, logos, local or regional recognition: all of this has a cost for us as citizens of the island, both in time wasted and
in taxes”,
adds Lise Chartier.

Lise Chartier will join Francine St-Denis, Philippe Nathan Crisafi, and Véronique Poirier on the board, furthering the mission of BECOMING ÎLE PERROT, a non-profit established in 2023 to champion the towns' unification.
