At around 5 p.m. this afternoon, the Sûreté du Québec intervened at the Walmart superstore on boulevard de la Gare, in Vaudreuil-Dorion, in response to a call reporting the presence of a suspicious individual inside the store. The intervention required evacuation of the store.

"Emergency services were called to the site in the late afternoon to carry out several checks. After viewing the surveillance cameras and searching the interior of the building, the call proved unfounded and the business was able to reopen," says Sûreté du Québec spokesman Stéphane Tremblay.

According to our information, the Walmart was closed for at least two hours to allow the authorities to complete their checks.

He adds that the investigation is continuing to determine the source of the unfounded call. "Charges of public mischief could be laid against the perpetrator(s) of this hoax," he concludes.
