The Maison de la Famille Vaudreuil-Soulanges (MFVS) has officially announced the deployment of its services at its new location, situated at 1008 Principale Street in Saint-Zotique, starting in mid-April 2025. This major project marks a key milestone in the organization’s commitment to better meeting the growing needs of families in the region.

Estimated at $1.2 million, the project is being carried out by the design-build firm Struxar, renowned for its expertise in building performance and carbon-neutral projects, in partnership with architect Claude Matte and contractor Sylvain Ménard.

Through this initiative, MFVS aims to reach 250 new families in the Soulanges county. The new facility will enable the implementation of various services and programs, including homework assistance and tutoring, language stimulation workshops, a community daycare, perinatal programming, and supervised access rights services.

In a short video, MFVS Board President Diane Lyonnais explains: “When we started the work, we made it a priority to engage in a consultation process. We consulted partners, parents, stakeholders, employees, and even children. Everyone told us they wanted a welcoming home. I am confident we will achieve this. We have dedicated staff who love children and believe in investing in families. The community will be warmly welcomed and receive excellent services.”

The MFVS has benefited from significant financial support, thanks to its 2024 fundraising campaign and a $250,000 contribution from Desjardins’ Fonds du Grand Mouvement, which helped finance the construction of the new facility.

"We made a commitment with Desjardins that by 2027, we would welcome 500 new families. That is a significant number, considering we currently serve around 2,100 families across Vaudreuil-Soulanges. We are convinced that with the developments we are making and the opportunities offered by our new location, we will be able to reach our goal," added Ms. Lyonnais.

The City of Saint-Zotique, a long-time partner of MFVS, also played a key role by providing the land for the new facility for a symbolic amount. A 99-year emphyteutic lease binds the Municipality of Saint-Zotique and the organization, allowing the MFVS to use the land for construction while paying a symbolic rent of $1.

A Necessary Development

The expansion of this new facility aligns with a period of rapid demographic growth.

Between 2016 and 2021, Saint-Zotique’s population grew by 21%, with children aged 0-14 making up nearly a quarter of residents. This surge highlights the importance of accessible and tailored services for families.

Finally, the new facility will create five new jobs. “We will become a more attractive internship environment. We will be able to welcome at least two interns per year,” concluded the Board President.
