Vaudreuil-Dorion officials closely monitoring rising water levels

Vaudreuil-Dorion residents are being urged to remain vigilant as officials from the Municipal Civil Security Organization continue to monitor rising water levels in Vaudreuil Bay.

Several flood prevention measures have already been put in place to protect at-risk infrastructure, including the installation of a dike which is being installed on St. Charles Avenue between Lefebrve and Turcot Streets.

The city has been anticipating possible flooding and began undertaking flood mitigation measure by installing balloons and water pumps on St. Charles Avenue on Tuesday.

Several flood mitigation measures have also been put in place including the installation of auxiliary booster pumps and balloons, cleaning of water networks, ongoing monitoring and surveillance of the situation and the installation of pumps to protect pumping stations.

The water level of the in the Lake of Two Mountains is presently at 24.06 and could reach 24.2 meters by Tuesday. In 2017, the water level was and 24.63 meters in 2019.

A self-serve sand station is also available for residents at the municipal workshops located at 205 Valois Street. Bags, tyraps and polythene to make dikes are available for purchase. Residents should also bring a shovel.

The municipal garage will be open until midnight tonight and reopen at 7:15 on Wednesday morning
