Report from the Ministry of Justice
The region's photo radars are always lucrative
According to a report published by the Ministry of Justice, as of January 1, 2025, the photo radar located on Highway 20 East in Pincourt would once again be among the most lucrative in the region.
Since the pilot project was introduced in 2009, the device installed less than 500 metres from Boulevard de l'Île on Highway 20 East has issued 145,544 statements of offence, raising $16,401,653. In 2024 alone, 8,242 tickets were issued for a total of $1,074,002.
However, according to the ministry's figures, this strategy has considerably reduced the number of accidents on this road. Local residents have also become accustomed to reducing their speed in the vicinity.
In addition to the fixed radar in Pincourt, mobile radars are scattered throughout the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, mainly near construction sites. In 2024, 17,429 tickets were issued at these locations, and $4,813,665 was collected.
In the past year, photo radar has enabled Quebec City to raise close to $100 million, representing an increase of around $25 million over 2023.
