Vaudreuil-Dorion mayor's blood drive to be held on November 7
Vaudreuil-Dorion Mayor Guy Pilon's blood drive will be held on Thursday, November 7 at the Centre multisports André-Chagnon. This year, the honorary presidency of this life-saving event will be held by 4-year-old Romain, son of Vaudreuil-Dorion Assistant General Manager Mélissa Côté.
Romain is a real little warrior. At the age of seven days, he was diagnosed with severe scaphocephaly, a rare condition that required emergency surgery at Sainte-Justine Hospital. This operation, marked by an incision from ear to ear, changed his life.
During this difficult period, Romain showed extraordinary strength, facing each step with courage. Thanks to Sainte-Justine's exceptional care and a blood transfusion, he overcame the ordeal with flying colors. Today, Romain is a child full of life.
The blood drive will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and you can make an appointment to donate now. However, if you are passing by a blood drive site and are available to make a donation, don't hesitate to check with the team on site to see if they can accommodate you.
Before donating blood
In the hours leading up to your blood donation, we recommend that you drink a minimum of 500 ml of water or juice and eat well, avoiding fatty foods. To make blood collection easier, wear loose-fitting clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up above the elbow.
You should also carry your donor card or proof of identity.
Strict selection criteria have been established if you wish to donate blood. To find out more about these criteria or to obtain further information, visit the organization's website.
