The second edition of Cultive ton web 2.0, an initiative of Carrefour Jeunesse Emploi Vaudreuil-Soulanges, enabled the Fondation de l'Hôpital de Vaudreuil-Soulanges to completely overhaul its website. The project was piloted by Philippe Corriveau of Tofu Box and a number of young people aged between 18 and 35.
The non-profit organization's new website was unveiled on Tuesday, November 7, at a 5 à 7 event held at the CJE VS offices in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The purpose of the event was not only to unveil the Foundation's new visual identity, but also to thank all those involved in its creation.
Last year, in 2022, the Cultive ton web 2.0 project was launched at CJE VS. The idea is for a group of young people between the ages of 18 and 35, interested in the digital world, to create a website for an NPO. In the first edition, Atelier Paysan benefited from the talent of the young designers taking part in the program, under the guidance of Philippe Corriveau of Tofu Box.
2nd edition to be launched in late 2022
The second edition was launched in December 2022, at the same time as steps were being taken to find the organization that would benefit from a new website.
"The aim of the project is to enable young people between the ages of 18 and 35 to develop their skills with a view to better integrating into the job market later on. In all, nine young people started the project and six completed it, taking part from A to Z in the creation of the website, through all the stages from the customer meeting to target needs, to the development of the tree structure, the writing of texts and the putting online of the final product", indicated Mr. Corriveau.
By taking part in the project, the young people agreed to meet once a week for 12 weeks with Philippe Corriveau at the CJE VS offices to give birth to the new visual signature. The CJE VS youth project manager at the time, Jonathan Champagne, also oversaw the process.
"We're very proud of the result, and a third edition is sure to follow," confirms CJE VS General Manager Jessica Myre. In the past, the call for non-profit organizations was launched in December, and it was in May, June and July that the young participants let their digital creativity do the talking.
A great experience for Philippe Corriveau and the participants
"It's been a really great experience. It's an interesting project that brings together non-profit organizations, a private company (Tofu Box) and young people aged 18 to 35 who are curious to learn and discover my profession. I founded Tofu Box in 2005, and I'm still happy, almost 20 years later, to share my passion with the next generation. In this project, the young people were able to learn more about the cloud network and the fact that text is just as important as images. They also understood why certain ideas were chosen over others," emphasized the project's top man.
Two of the six young people who completed the adventure of this second edition of Cultive ton web 2.0, Maude and Josh, had also taken part in the first edition. "They were leaders for the group through their hard work and dedication. Thank you."
What did they enjoy most about the experience? For Josh, it's writing, a medium he's passionate about. For Maude, it was developing the site. "I enjoyed building the infrastructure, like the blocks, with Philippe's help. I didn't do as much the first time," confided the young woman who works alongside Philippe Corriveau at Tofu Box as a graphic designer.
Despite its short existence, Cultive ton web 2.0. has already had an impact on participants' lives. In Maude's case, she had already begun the process of studying graphic design before collaborating on the first edition of the project. By the time she completed the project, she had her diploma in her pocket. "One of the participants decided to study programming, while another was in the process of designing a website for her company. She was able to apply the notions seen in class to her personal project", he pictured.
For his part, Denis Lapointe, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors, praised the young people's participation and was very proud of the final result. "The CJE plays an important role in the lives of young people and in their development. Well done," he concluded.
