A memorable tournament for the Voltigeurs U19s

The Collège Bourget U19 women's varsity ice hockey team won the Prep Power Hockey League (PPHL) championship at a tournament held February 28 to March 2 in Walpole, Massachusetts. The Voltigeurs defeated Lovell Academy in a shootout, 3-2.
Collège Bourget ends its trip south of the border with a record of five wins and one loss.
February 28: Lovell Academy-Yellow
The Voltigeurs suffered a 2-1 setback against Lovell Academy-Yellow, one of two teams representing this Massachusetts institution.
Brooke Dalterio scored Bourget's first goal of the tournament in the first period, assisted by teammate Nela Tischlerova. Lovell then scored twice to win 2-1.
In defeat, goalkeeper Joséphine Gauvin performed well, making 36 saves on 38 shots.
March 1: North American Hockey Academy
The Voltigeurs crossed swords with the North American Hockey Academy in their second game of the tournament. They easily disposed of their opponents with a 6-0 victory.
Kayla Lombardo got the net moving in the first period on assists from Madison Lévesque and Ann-Sophie Beaumont. Brooke Dalterio added more late in the first period, recording her second of the tournament with an individual effort.
The Voltigeurs carried their momentum into the second period, scoring three goals to increase their lead to 5-0. Mikaela MacDowell scored her first goal of the tournament on an assist from Tessa Dalterio.
Coralie Paradis also scored her first goal with the help of teammate Talie Proulx. To conclude the period, Kayla Lombardo scored another goal with the help of Ann-Sophie Beaumont.
Lombardo completed her hat trick in the third period on another assist from Ann-Sophie Beaumont. Goalkeeper Melody Bernard recorded her first win of the tournament with a 24-save shutout.
March 1: Gilmour Academy
The celebrations were short-lived for the Voltigeurs, who were back on the ice to face Gilmour Academy.
The Voltigeurs won 2-1. Ann-Sophie Beaumont and Madison Lévesque scored for the Voltigeurs. Beaumont received assists from Laurence Foster and Kayla Lombardo, while Lévesque scored thanks to an individual effort.
March 2: Lovell Academy-Blue
After a perfect day the day before, the Voltigeurs got the elimination round off to a good start with a 5-1 win over Lovell Academy-Blue.
Kassandra Lombardo opened the scoring in the first period with her first goal of the tournament on assists from Madison Lévesque and Ann-Sophie Beaumont.
The second period began in much the same way as the first, with Tessa Dalterio increasing her team's lead with the help of Laurence Foster. Ann-Sophie Beaumont added two more goals, one assisted by Marilee Vachon and the other unassisted. Beaumont's goals were interspersed with Lovell Academy's lone goal.
The third period belonged to Nela Tischlerova, who scored her first goal of the tournament on a pass from Abigail Bush.
Melody Bernard continued her winning ways with a second consecutive victory, making 20 saves on 21 shots.
March 2: Final against Lovell Academy-Yellow
The Voltigeurs had the chance to exact revenge on Lovell Academy-Yellow, who had beaten them at the start of the tournament.
Collège Bourget quickly trailed 2-0 in the match. It was in the second period that Talie Proulx, on a pass from Coralie Paradis, put the Voltigeurs on the scoreboard. Midway through the third period, Madison Lévesque leveled the score at 2-2 with the help of teammates Kassandra Lombardo and Ann-Sophie Beaumont.
The Voltigeurs finally prevailed in a shootout, 3-2. Joséphine Gauvin was a wall of strength in her team's victory, making 47 saves on 49 shots.
Ann-Sophie Beaumont finished the tournament as top scorer with eight points, including three goals and five assists in five games. Madison Lévesque and Kayla Lombardo also performed well in the tournament, collecting four points each.
