To benefit Relay for Life
A fundraising dinner at Les Cèdres in April
Once again in 2025, four dynamic young people from Vaudreuil-Soulanges are inviting interested parties to a fund-raising dinner on Saturday April 5 at the Pavillon récréatif des bénévoles des Cèdres. Their goal is to raise funds for the Relay for Life, to be held in Pincourt next June.
This will be the event's third edition this year. Guests are expected on site from 5 p.m. for an evening of joshing, fine dining and dancing.
“We participated in Relay for Life for the first time in 2017. Since then, we've been organizing various fundraising activities like door-to-door canvassing, wrapping sessions at Super C or a boutheille-o-thon. A while ago, we were looking for a more unifying idea, and we came up with the idea of doing the supper. With this activity, we want to get together to send a message of hope about this disease that affects so many people. The fund-raising dinner is open to everyone, young and old. It's always a great evening,” says Vincent Lachance, one of the organizers of the fundraising event.
Sara-Maude Major, Arnaud Thauvette and Gabriel Proulx-Dumay helped the young man plan the fundraising dinner down to the last detail.
Thanks to the generosity of participants and event partners, the fundraising dinner raised over $2,500 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
“We also hold a half-and-half draw during the evening to thank participants for attending and encouraging us in our Relay for Life challenge. We are currently finalizing our partnership agreements with our sponsors. We're lucky to be able to count on their loyalty year after year,” he adds.
Among their loyal allies, Vincent, Sara-Maude, Arnaud and Gabriel can count on the support of the Municipality of Les Cèdres, which lends the premises free of charge for the event. Other companies involved in the project include Avon, Cascades Ressorts Inc, Contessa, Alimentation Sahl Bouadi inc, Baronesse and iSpice Foods. They are joined by friends and family of the organizers, who act as volunteers for the evening, which welcomes some 100 guests. Companies interested in supporting this initiative can also contact Vincent Lachance between now and the event.
“Last year, 105 people joined us to enjoy a meal. This year, we've set ourselves the target of 125 guests, but I'd be really happy if 150 were there. It's feasible. We've started promoting the event on social networks. This year, tickets can only be purchased online. That gives us a better idea of how much food to order,” he confides.
To date, Vincent and his friends have donated over $15,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society as part of Relay for Life. “We all know one or more people who have loved ones with cancer. It's important to do our part for the cause. Arnaud, who is organizing the dinner with us, is a member of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Relay for Life organizing committee. It's the least we can do for the cause,” he concludes.
Want to attend? Tickets are on sale for $25 each via this link. It's highly recommended to buy tickets online in advance, rather than at the door on the day.
