Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.  

Ice hockey surface and pigeon-proof netting for refrigerated rink

Keen to make Quatre-Saisons Park a sports venue, Saint-Zotique's elected officials approved two expenditures in this direction at the regular municipal council meeting on Tuesday, February 18. 

Snow Forts: A fun but risky winter game

On Friday February 21, Vaudreuil-Soulanges MP Peter Schiefke was officially named Commander of the Royal Order of Civil Merit, one of Spain's highest honours, in recognition of his contribution to strengthening ties between Canada and Spain. 

Two new medals for Gymini’s G-Force

The teams of G-Force, Raiders and Storm distinguished themselves on 22 February last while the CheerUp competition was held. Organized by Sapphire Productions, the competition took place in Saint-Hyacinthe.  This competition allowed the athletes to showcase their work and progress throughout the season.

Vaudreuil-Dorion to build $4.5 million multipurpose footbridge

In conjunction with the opening of the future Vaudreuil-Soulanges hospital, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion will build a $4.5 million multifunctional footbridge to improve traffic flow in the area. Work is scheduled for 2026-2027.

A new home for La Chaise de génération de Vaudreuil-Dorion

Offered in March 2023 to the city council of Vaudreuil-Dorion by students from the Brind'Amour school, the Chaise des générations now has a new home. On Monday, February 24, this symbolic piece of furniture was transferred from the former city hall of Vaudreuil-Dorion, rue Dutrisac, to the municipal pole, located on rue Émile-Bouchard, at 6:30 p.m.

La Fondation de la Cité-des-Jeunes will fund three projects in 2025

Over the next few months, the Fondation de la Cité-des-Jeunes will invest $80,000 to support three projects that will take place on the campus of the high school of the same name in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Plastic bottles soon to be returnable

All plastic ready-to-drink beverage containers from 100 ml to 2 l, including bottles of water, sparkling water and juice, as well as all other beverages such as flavored water, spirits, etc., will be subject to a deposit as of this Saturday, March 1, when the second phase of the modernization and expansion of the deposit system in Quebec comes into effect.

Two young people from Coteau-du-Lac receive a bursary from the Fondation Aléo

The Fondation Aléo believes in talent, determination and perseverance. Through the Accès Nouvelle Génération 2025 program, 78 talented young student-athletes today received tangible recognition, a bursary and access to lifelong coaching services at the Maison du Loisir et du Sport. Coteau-du-Lac residents Alison Douhou and Mia Douhou are among the recipients.
