2nd regional selection at Club CampiAgile
Gymini and Élite Canada : Lucas Drennan and Juliette Trudeau stand out
Club Gymini gymnasts shone at two major competitions last weekend: Elite Canada and the 2ᵉ regional selection at Club CampiAgile. Between surpassing themselves, gold medals and new experiences, each athlete marked the event with remarkable performances.
Elite Canada: Lucas Drennan and Juliette Trudeau on the rise
Lucas Drennan showed great resilience at Elite Canada. After a first day marked by some difficulties on rings and falls on parallel and high bars, he bounced back with an outstanding floor exercise, finishing 2nd in the event, and a spectacular vault also ranked 2nd. Determined to deliver a second flawless day, he put in one solid performance after another, including a perfectly controlled double front on the parallel bars and a flawless routine on the high bar. Thanks to his composure, he concluded the competition with a gold medal on floor, a silver medal on vault and a 5th place overall.
Juliette Trudeau, meanwhile, made Gymini history by becoming the club's first athlete to achieve her Novice High Performance status. She showed great consistency with a 9th place on total apparatus, a 6th place on vault and an 8th place on beam. Her highlight? The successful execution of her double back on floor for the first time, a key step in her development. Her exemplary attitude and perseverance were major assets throughout the competition.
2nd regional selection: several medals for Gymini
The gymnasts in the R3 11-12 age group performed particularly well:
Kiara McCabe finished champion of her category, taking gold on vault, a bronze medal on floor and a 4th place on uneven bars.
Anne-Michelle Dorval had an impressive competition with two gold medals (tumbling and floor with a score of 9.70) and two bronze medals (uneven bars and beam). Her consistency earned her a great 2nd place overall.
Léane Woo Sun Cheong stood out with a gold medal on uneven bars, a bronze medal on vault table, and two 4th places on floor and tumbling, finishing 4th overall.
Florence Fogeron-O'Brien picked up a 7th place on floor and an 8th place on vault table. Presenting her tumbling routines for the first time, she also executes her beam wheel with determination.
Èva Mayor shines on floor with a silver medal, before taking the top step of the podium on tumbling and adding another silver medal on trampoline. She finished 6th overall.
Mégane Desautels won 1st place on beam and a bronze medal in tumbling. Her great success on the uneven bars, with her perfectly executed little man, marks an important step forward.
Lauriane Legault put in a fine performance with a 6th place on the uneven bars and an 8th place on the trampoline. Throughout the competition, she stood out for her exemplary attitude, warmly encouraging her teammates.
Rebecca Sabourin showed great resilience and exemplary concentration in this demanding competition. She finished in 6ᵉ place on uneven bars and 7th place on floor, encouraging results that testify to her potential.
In the R3 9-10 years category, other athletes from the club also shone:
Maina D'Amour-Lalonde achieved a clean sweep with two gold medals on floor and bars, three silver medals on beam, vault and trampoline, and a win overall.
Jade Garner impresses with three gold medals on beam, vault and tumbling and a 2nd place overall.
Laurie Riel makes it onto the podium with a 2nd place on floor and two bronze medals on bars and tumbling.
Anaïs Gagné has a great competition with a 2nd place on uneven bars, as well as a 6th place on vault, floor and trampoline. She concluded the event with a 5th place overall in the events.
