For its Miyawaki forest project in Audrey Park
Municipalité des Coteaux applies for financial assistance
With the aim of greening its territory, increasing biodiversity and fostering community involvement, the Municipalité des Coteaux will develop a Miyawaki forest in Audrey Park. At the regular meeting of the municipal council held on Monday, February 17, elected officials approved a request for $56,000 in financial assistance for this project.
The purpose of the resolution was to authorize Jonathan Laforest, Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Life, to submit an application for financial assistance in this amount to the Canadian Community Canopy Growth (CCCG) program.
The project will be carried out in collaboration with the Arbre Évolution cooperative. The project is part of the parks and green spaces master plan and supports the social and sustainable development policy of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC.
The Miyawaki method enables accelerated vegetation growth, contributing to the fight against heat islands and to carbon neutrality. Funding for the project comes from a number of sources, including the CCCC program.
