There's every reason to believe that Greater Montreal, including Vaudreuil-Soulanges, will experience its first real snowstorm of the season.

A major low-pressure system originating in Texas will intensify as it moves towards Quebec, leaving behind up to 30 centimetres of snow.

A winter storm warning has been in effect since late Tuesday afternoon for Montreal, Montérégie, Laval, Laurentides, Outaouais, Lanaudière and Mont-Laurier.

Snowfall is expected to begin around 10 pm on Wednesday in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, and to continue until early evening on Thursday. Gusts of up to 70 km/h could have a significant impact on rush-hour traffic in urban areas. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Caution will be advised on the roads.
