The Suroît Hospital Foundation announces the receipt of a significant donation of $70,000 from the Baie St-François Foundation. This major contribution is earmarked for the Oncology Department to improve care ergonomics and patient comfort.

In the middle of winter, human warmth is once again felt at Hôpital du Suroît. Sensitive to the realities experienced by cancer patients in the Montérégie-Ouest region, the administrators of the Fondation Baie-St-François are pleased to bring a little warmth to patients currently undergoing treatment at Hôpital du Suroît.

For the comfort of patients

Thanks to a generous donation of $70,000, new equipment will make its appearance on the unit, much to the delight of the care team who, every day, work with dedication to cure or prolong the lives of those suffering from cancer. The donation will enable the acquisition of 12 vital signs monitors, a Medicus chair and a Triad treatment chair.

“When you work in the oncology unit every day, you know how important, even essential, this equipment is. The comfort of new treatment chairs, combined with ergonomic, state-of-the-art vital signs monitors, will make all the difference in the lives of our patients, who sometimes spend several hours with us“, says Martine Parent, Oncology Program Manager at Hôpital du Suroît and Hôpital Anna-Laberge, CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest.

The Fondation Baie-St-François committed to the community

The official presentation of the donation took place at the doors of the Oncology Department, in the presence of representatives of the Suroît Hospital Foundation and members of the Board of Directors of the Fondation Baie St-François, including Mr. Yves McSween, President, Mrs. Ginette Dumouchel, Mr. Oréal Vigneux and Mr. Raymond McSween.

“We are very proud to be able to contribute to improving oncology care at Hôpital du Suroît. This donation reflects our commitment to the community of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield for over 15 years,” adds Oréal Vigneux, member of the Board of Directors of the Fondation Baie St-François.

Created in 2009, the Fondation Baie St-François has made a significant contribution, donating over $1,000,000 to support numerous community organizations in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
