“Now, more than ever, we must act to support our small businesses, workers and local industries,” said Peter Schiefke, MP for Vaudreuil-Soulanges. According to the MP, in the face of economic uncertainty and changing international trade relations in recent weeks, the time has come for the community to unite and support each other.

In a statement, Peter Schiefke points out that Donald Trump's recent threats to Canadian and Quebec workers, jobs and the economy have underscored the importance of economic sovereignty.

“Potential trade conflicts and external pressures remind us that we can't afford to depend too much on our allies and neighbors to the south. The best way to ensure stability and growth is to reinvest in our local economy,” he maintains.

Peter Schiefke urges consumers to take simple but effective steps such as looking for Made in Canada labels, buying from Quebec companies and giving priority to local farmers, manufacturers and retailers.

“Whether it's food, clothing, household goods or services, supporting local production makes a difference,” he adds.

By buying local, jobs are protected, it strengthens the local economy, the consumer is assured of high quality and sustainable products, reminds the MP.

“In times of economic and political uncertainty, Quebecers have always been known for their solidarity. Let's continue this tradition by investing here in Vaudreuil-Soulanges and with our fellow Canadians. Choosing to spend our hard-earned dollars on products made in Canada and Quebec is one of the most effective ways to demonstrate resilience and solidarity. Every purchase is a commitment to good jobs, a prosperous economy and a future we shape together,” concludes Peter Schiefke.
