Eager to quickly find a solution to the glaring lack of wheelchairs available in the Suroît Hospital lobby, the Suroît Hospital Foundation has teamed up with supplier EMSO, which has been providing the region with recognized expertise in adapted equipment since 1994.

With hundreds of visitors every day, a large proportion of whom have mobility issues, the lack of wheelchairs creates problems in terms of patient safety and comfort.

As a result, a new fleet of 29 wheelchairs will make their appearance in the lobby of Hôpital du Suroît. In addition to being completely adapted to the hospital environment, these wheelchairs are also.... pink!

The fleet of 26 regular wheelchairs, 3 bariatric wheelchairs and a generous supply of spare parts to ensure the maintenance and longevity of the wheelchair fleet represents an investment of $50,345 by the Suroît Hospital Foundation.

“Pink is the emblematic color of the Suroît Hospital Foundation, and with this unique feature, we think users and healthcare and support professionals will recognize the fact that we're there for them,” points out Karl Savary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Suroît Hospital Foundation.

Durable and adapted to prevent loss or theft, the Suroît Hospital Foundation's pink wheelchairs are dedicated to the Suroît Hospital entrance and offered free of charge to users.

The project was made possible by a unique collaboration with the stretcher department, security guards, hospital activities management, the complaints commissioner's office and the Suroît Hospital Users' Committee.
