SERV celebrates Teachers' Week
As part of Teachers' Week, which runs from February 2 to 8, 2025, the Syndicat de l'enseignement de la région de Vaudreuil (SERV-CSQ) joins the Fédération des syndicats de l'enseignement (FSE-CSQ) in highlighting the daily work and commitment of teachers.
The union organizations are also taking the opportunity to remind the government that, in addition to encouragement and kind words, it is above all concrete actions that make it possible to value teachers.
"We would like to emphasize the professionalism of teachers and their invaluable contribution to building tomorrow's society. Valuing teachers should be a constant priority that goes beyond a single week in February. And yet, they tell us they want more time to teach, and propose several solutions to this end. We need to listen to them," says Isabelle Gariépy, President of SERV-CSQ.
According to Ms. Gariépy, teachers want recognition for the solutions they put forward, "in particular by recognizing their work, promoting measures that give them more teaching time and reducing bureaucratic requirements. In all cases, both students and teachers will benefit greatly," they state in a press release.
"In the business world, time is money. In education, time is success," said Richard Bergevin, President of the FSE-CSQ.
Throughout the week, the union organizations will be questioning the Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville, on issues of concern to teachers, to find out what concrete action he intends to take, for example, on the subject of learning assessment or incivility in the classroom.
The teachers' organizations are also inviting parents and the general public to mark the Week in their communities. “Appreciation is always a good thing,” say the representatives.
