According to data collected on the Quebec government website at 12:30 this Friday, the occupancy rate of stretchers at the emergency room of the Suroît Hospital was 178%, the highest occupancy rate in Montérégie.

The total number of people in the emergency room at the hospital centre in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield was 69, with 10 waiting to see a doctor.  Of the 32 functional stretchers, 57 are occupied, 22 have been occupied for more than 24 hours and 7 for more than 48 hours.

The average length of stay in the waiting room was 5 hours and 22 minutes, while the average length of stay on a stretcher was 35 hours and 40 minutes.

To avoid the emergency

Depending on the patient’s health, it is possible to avoid the emergency by consulting other services. The public is invited to contact 811 Info-Santé, CLSC, their family doctor and consult the online guides for home care.

Pharmacists also offer many local services.
