Consignaction opens a drop-off center for consigned containers in Pincourt
As part of the second phase of modernizing the deposit system, the Quebec Association for Beverage Container Recovery (AQRCB)/Consignaction has announced the opening of a deposit container return facility at 1430 Boulevard du Traversier in Pincourt. This marks the first facility of its kind in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.
Under the Consignaction banner, this return facility features cutting-edge, high-performance equipment designed to efficiently and rapidly recover larger quantities of deposit beverage containers.
“AQRCB/Consignaction is offering a renewed experience for returning deposit beverage containers. This model for return facilities innovates in terms of customer experience while drawing inspiration from best practices,” said Maryse Taupier, Vice-President of Network Operations for AQRCB/Consignaction.
Consignaction Return Facility
Exclusively dedicated to the recovery of deposit beverage containers, this Consignaction return facility offers two services:
- Unit Return using automated recovery machines.
- Express Return, allowing citizens to drop off a bag of unsorted containers.
A new feature also allows users to receive their refunds via the Consignaction mobile app. For Unit Return, citizens can be reimbursed in cash or through secure electronic transfer, while for Express Return, refunds are processed electronically only, as the containers are sorted and counted in the days following drop-off.
Staff is available on-site to assist customers. Opening hours are as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thursday and Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Up to 400 Consignaction Return Facilities in Quebec
As of this writing, it has yet to be confirmed whether additional facilities will be established in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region in the near future.
Nonetheless, AQRCB/Consignaction aims to open up to 400 return facilities across Quebec by the end of 2026.
It is also worth noting that starting March 1, new formats of glass and plastic containers, as well as a new material—multi-layer cardboard—will be accepted. Consignaction return facilities are prepared to handle the expected increase in volume, as the number of deposit-eligible units is set to double, from 2.5 billion to 5 billion.
