The announcement of Hugo Gendreau's departure from the Town of Pincourt's District 1 Council took council members by surprise, but for Mayor Claude Comeau, it was totally understandable.

On January 14, at the regular council meeting, young councillor and family man Hugo Gendreau announced his obligation to leave his post due to an imminent move.

In a letter addressed to his colleagues and tabled at the meeting, the young man in his thirties indicated that family reasons were forcing him to move. As a result, it is impossible for him to continue his mandate.

“I was surprised, as was the Board, to learn of Mr. Gendreau's departure. That said, we all understand that we have to make the best choice for our families,” Claude Comeau told Néomédia.

The mayor was keen to pay tribute to the young councillor's professionalism and dedication. Hugo Gendreau has worked on a number of files, including giving a voice to young people and promoting the development of recreational spaces adapted to all ages.

“Mr. Gendreau was very professional and did a great job as a councillor.  His youth brought another aspect to the municipal council that was much appreciated. We are proud of what he accomplished and, although sad to see him go, we are happy for him and his family. I wish him well in his future endeavours, and thank him for his service to our community,” added Mr. Comeau.

Elected for the first time in 2021, Mr. Gendreau would like to express his gratitude to all the constituents of his district who have supported him throughout the years. “It was a great privilege to work behind the scenes on projects, to underpin a vision for the city's future, and to see those projects come to fruition. I was constantly impressed by the incredible talent and dedication of the public servants who play such an essential role in these achievements,” said Mr. Gendreau.
