Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.

National Bank to close its Harwood Boulevard branch

On May 9, the National Bank located at 378 Harwood Boulevard will close its doors and transfer its activities to the L'Île-Perrot branch. The news was confirmed by the banking institution to Néomédia earlier this week. 

Krema et Co. moves and expands

Fans of Krema et Co. Gelato et Gâteries, located at 246 Avenue Saint-Charles since April 2023, will soon see their favorite café-bistro move just a few blocks away. The relocation is expected to happen by the end of March, as confirmed by owner Lina Cantali to Néomédia.

Photo Radars in the region remain highly profitable

According to a report published by the Ministry of Justice on January 1, 2025, the photo radar located on Highway 20 in Pincourt remains one of the most profitable in the region.

The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, a ice hockey team that has been competing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League since the 2011-2012 season, recently announced that Pointe-Fortune-born left winger Rafaël Cloutier has joined its roster for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. Hudson purchases the Villa Wyman land

The Town of Hudson will acquire the neighboring lot of the Gurdwara Sikh Temple on Main Street, a site previously designated for the Villa Wyman project.

A new cheerleading team is born in the region

To avoid the scattering of cheerleading athletes following the arrival of two new high schools on the Vaudreuil-Soulanges territory, Monique Rochefort, Audrey Daoust and Maude Laframboise have gone to great lengths.

Pincourt: Hugo Gendreau steps down as councillor

Hugo Gendreau, who has held the position of District 1 Councillor for the Town of Pincourt since 2021, announced his resignation at the January 14 council meeting.

An accessibility study for the Coteau-du-Lac industrial park will be carried out

At their regular meeting on Tuesday, January 14, the elected officials of the City of Coteau-du-Lac authorized an accessibility study for the Alta industrial park on Route 201. The process, which will begin in the very near future, will take about a year to complete. 

Yan Lecompte's fate will soon be decided

The case of Yan Lecompte, a 40-year-old man accused of several sexual offences against minor victims, was back in court on Wednesday, January 15, before Judge Marie-Chantal Doucet. 

Coteau-du-Lac plans to reduce speed on two main arteries

At their meeting on Tuesday, January 14, Coteau-du-Lac's elected officials tabled a by-law stating their intention to reduce traffic speeds on two major arteries in the municipality. Over the next few months, motorists will be invited to travel at 40 km/h on chemin du Fleuve and rue Principale, rather than the current 50 km/h. 

Shades of black and white at the Guy-Godin library

Since the beginning of the year, the Guy-Godin library has been hosting the Nuances exhibition by Vaudreuil-Soulanges-based Groupe Passion Photo (GPP), featuring some 15 local photographers. The exhibition will run until February. After which, this spring, it will travel to the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges in its multifunctional hall. 

Young weightlifters from the region shine at the National Youth Championships

In December 2024, the National Youth Weightlifting Championship showcased the exceptional talents of young athletes from the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region. Student-athletes from the Sport-études program at École secondaire de la Cité-des-Jeunes (ESCJ) put in remarkable performances, collecting medals and personal bests.

Pincourt mayor salutes Hugo Gendreau's commitment

The announcement of Hugo Gendreau's departure from the Town of Pincourt's District 1 Council took council members by surprise, but for Mayor Claude Comeau, it was totally understandable.
