According to a report published by the Ministry of Justice on January 1, 2025, the photo radar located on Highway 20 in Pincourt remains one of the most profitable in the region.

Since its introduction as part of a pilot project in 2009, the device, installed less than 500 meters from Boulevard de l’Île on Highway 20 East, has issued 145,544 tickets, generating $16,401,653 in fines. In 2024 alone, 8,242 tickets were issued, amounting to $1,074,002 in fines.

However, this strategy has also significantly reduced the number of accidents on this stretch of road, according to ministry data. Local residents have also become accustomed to reducing their speed near the radar.

In addition to the fixed radar in Pincourt, mobile radars are deployed at various locations in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area, primarily near construction zones. One such example is on Highway 40 near kilometer marker 30. In 2024, 17,429 tickets were issued at this site, generating $4,813,665 in fines.

Over the past year, photo radars have generated nearly $100 million in revenue for the province of Quebec, marking an increase of approximately $25 million compared to 2023.
