The Adopte TA borne! initiative is back on Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot territory for the winter season. This means that this winter, after a snowfall, citizens are invited to clear a hydrant in their neighbourhood for a chance to win prizes.

After a snowfall, hydrants are often covered in snow. Since every second counts in the event of a fire, it's important that the 1,500 or so hydrants in the area are accessible at all times. However, this is not always the case for a few hours or days, while municipal employees regain control of the road network during a storm.

Thanks to the “Adopt YOUR hydrant” contest, people can contribute to the safety of their neighbourhood by clearing the snow from a hydrant located near their home after a heavy snowfall. It's a gesture that can make a big difference to firefighters' response times in the event of a fire.

How can you get involved?

After a snowfall, residents are invited to get out their shovels and clear a hydrant in their neighbourhood.

Once you've finished, take a photo of yourself with the cleared hydrant and send it to [email protected]. The process must be repeated for each storm.

Winners will be announced on the Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot Facebook page.

Participation prizes

- Smoke alarms with lithium battery - 10 years;

- Carbon monoxide alarms;

- First-aid kits;

- Fire extinguishers;

and more.

One winner will be determined by random draw from among all entrants every snowfall.
