A pedestrian in his twenties is reported to have been hit by a car
Witnesses sought in Saint-Lazare hit-and-run incident
The Sûreté du Québec is asking for the public's help in locating potential witnesses or anyone with information about a hit-and-run accident causing injuries that occurred in St-Lazare on January 7, 2025.
At around 4:30 p.m., emergency services were called to a scene on Côte Saint-Charles near the intersection of rue du Cumberland in St-Lazare, involving a pedestrian in his twenties who had allegedly been struck by a vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to our information, the vehicle involved is believed to be a Jeep Wrangler Sahara black, model year 2023. The vehicle may have sustained damage to the right fender and rearview mirror (photo for information only).
Earlier this week, Saint-Lazare mayor Geneviève Lachance reacted to the situation on her Geneviève Lachance Mairesse page. Here is her statement:
It is truly incomprehensible that such a thing could happen. How can someone commit such an act and leave another person suffering, alone and in need of help. This lack of compassion and responsibility is truly shocking and unacceptable.
While I have no official details on the situation, I would like to extend my sincerest thoughts to the victim, who is recovering, and to her family, who are going through this difficult time.
To the residents of Saint-Lazare, I encourage you all to come together at this troubling time. If you have any information about this incident, no matter how small, I invite you to contact the Sûreté du Québec to assist in their investigation.
Any information relating to this event can be communicated confidentially to the Sûreté du Québec's Centrale de l'information criminelle at 1 800 659-4264.
