The arrival of the cold season heralds the start of winter activities in Vaudreuil-Dorion. In addition to Harwood Nature Park, which already offers equipment rental for trail walking, Maison-Valois Park is now offering a program of activities for the whole family this winter.

Among them, youngsters can practice their snowskate tricks in a snow park, as well as taking advantage of the sliding area for tubing or sledding.

This year, the winter slide is divided into two sections: a tubing and sledding area, and a snowskate park. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the hill will be illuminated in the evenings from mid-January.  The snow park, for its part, is designed for performing tricks and jumps on modules.

As soon as the weather permits, residents can borrow snowskate boards, scooters, tubes and helmets free of charge (proof of residency required) from the rental container near the sliding hill. An ID must be left with a person aged 14 or over for the duration of the rental. Until March 2, it's open Saturdays and Sundays only, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Non-residents can borrow tubes free of charge.

Ice ring

Skaters can also take advantage of the ice ring. Residents can borrow skates or snowshoes free of charge from Chalet Valois, Monday to Friday, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

To change or warm up, the chalet is open Monday to Friday, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends until March 3. On weekends, hot drinks will be available to residents on presentation of proof of residency. Non-residents will be charged $1.

In view of the milder temperatures forecast over the next few days, it is advisable to check the status of services on the citizen portal (vaudreuil-dorion.bciti.com) before arriving on site.

A detailed schedule of Maison-Valois park activities is available on the city's website at ville.vaudreuil-dorion.qc.ca (Loisirs et culture/Installations récréatives/Parc de la Maison-Valois).
