New requirements for severely damaged vehicles
On January 1, an amendment to the Regulation respecting safety standards for road vehicles came into force. Specifically, it stipulates that, from now on, proof of recalibration of driver assistance systems will be required during the technical appraisal of seriously damaged vehicles.
When a vehicle is fitted with driver assistance systems and the damage sustained or repairs carried out may have affected them, recalibration must be carried out.
Another change that has been in force since January 1 is that of the temporary registration certificate for vehicles that are seriously involved in a collision or run-off-road accident.
It specifies that when a severely damaged vehicle requires dynamic recalibration on the road, the car owner must obtain a 12-hour temporary registration certificate by visiting a service point.
