Snowfall and icy conditions can make it difficult to get around on the road network. Do you know what to do in the event of a collision with a Hydro-Québec pole? Should you leave the vehicle or stay inside? What's the procedure to follow when the risk of electric shock is high?

If your vehicle or the car you're riding in collides with a pole, here are a few tips:

- Stay in the vehicle and avoid touching any metal parts inside. Stay calm.

- If possible, call 911 immediately. Mention that electrical equipment has been damaged in the accident.

- If a witness wants to help you, warn them not to approach, and especially not to touch the car.

- If remaining in the car is life-threatening (due to fire, for example):

- Open the door wide, touching only the handle.

- Jump out of the vehicle with both feet (like a rabbit).

- Never touch the vehicle and the ground at the same time.

- Leap 10 m away from the vehicle.

If you witness an accident of this type, here's how to behave:

- Do not approach or touch the vehicle. Stay at least 10 meters away;

- Tell the people inside to stay inside the vehicle and call 911 immediately. Mention that electrical equipment has been damaged in the accident;

- Warn people to stay away from the vehicle and not to touch it.

In all cases :

- Wait for help;

- Do not intervene until the Hydro-Québec team has secured the scene.
