Until January 2nd
Dynamic Traffic Management on Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge Unavailable During the Holidays
Contrary to last Friday’s announcement, dynamic traffic management on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge will not be possible during the holiday season.
Due to the precipitation forecast in the coming hours, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) has confirmed that the current configuration of two lanes toward Vaudreuil-Dorion and one lane toward Montreal will remain in effect until January 2.
Between 15 and 20 centimeters of snow are expected in Vaudreuil-Soulanges by Tuesday morning. The snowfall is anticipated to begin late Monday afternoon and taper off by late Tuesday morning.
According to Environment Canada, the rapid accumulation of snow could make travel difficult in some areas, and visibility may be suddenly reduced at times.
Challenges to Dynamic Traffic Management
In winter 2023, the MTMD stated that dynamic traffic management on the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge was not feasible due to snow accumulation. In winter 2024, dynamic management remained impossible, this time because of the space required for beam reinforcement work.
Let’s hope that following the holiday season, dynamic traffic management can resume.
