The 2024 Guignolée organized by the Centre d'action bénévole (CAB) de Soulanges has been an overwhelming success. To this day, the organization continues to receive food donations and monetary contributions from citizens and the nine municipalities within its territory.

So far, nearly $10,000 and hundreds of kilograms of food have been collected during this annual initiative. “Each of the nine municipalities in our area contributed with food or monetary donations. We had wonderful collaboration from them, as well as from our volunteers and the Gens de Cœur group in Les Coteaux. This solidarity is truly incredible,” said Chantal Geneau, Executive Director of CAB Soulanges.

Community Highlights

In Saint-Polycarpe, residents demonstrated remarkable generosity during the local drive on November 23. To date, the community has raised $4,699.40 and donated 683 kilograms of food.

In Saint-Zotique, volunteers from the CAB collected donations on November 30, gathering 2,703 kilograms of food and $7,910 in monetary contributions from the residents.

The municipality of Sainte-Marthe also stepped up on November 30, with volunteers canvassing the area. As of now, the campaign in Sainte-Marthe has raised $1,972.50 and 422 kilograms of food.

A Call for Continued Support

“Your support makes a real difference for the families in our region, allowing us to work toward a more united future. During this holiday season, every contribution counts to help those in need. It’s not over yet! You can still donate and help stock our pantry to provide over 350 baskets to families in Soulanges this year,” the organization emphasized on its social media channels.

While the holiday campaign garners much attention, the CAB Soulanges provides food assistance year-round. “Thank you to the volunteers who collected donations in recent weeks, and to everyone who made contributions. Thanks to you, we’ll be able to distribute 350 Christmas baskets to those in need by this Friday, December 20, and continue to support families throughout the year,” added Ms. Geneau.

Temporary Closure for the Holidays

The CAB Soulanges will temporarily close for the holiday season from December 21 to January 5. Donations can still be made online by visiting their website at https://www.cabsoulanges.com/.
