Strong Performances by Gymini Athletes at 1st Quebec Cup in Gatineau

The male and female athletes of Club Gymini delivered impressive performances last weekend at the 1st Quebec Cup for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) and Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), held in Gatineau.

The athletes’ performances, marked by resilience, determination, and skill, highlight the promising future of Club Gymini’s talent across both WAG and MAG disciplines.

Recap of the Athletes’ Performances

Provincial Level N2

Luke Brochu participated in his first competition, demonstrating exceptional stress management. He stayed focused and performed consistently throughout the event. His positive attitude and adaptability in a competitive environment suggest a promising future.

Albert Prévost, also competing at the provincial level for the first time, faced a challenge on the parallel bars, where he had to withdraw. Despite this, he showed great resilience and excelled on other apparatus.

Provincial Level N1

Bora Ozbilici made his competitive debut with determination. Despite initial nerves, he managed to handle the pressure and deliver strong performances, marking a great start to his competitive career.

Noah Thwaites, another first-time competitor, narrowly missed the podium on the high bar with a 4th-place finish. He also placed 6th on floor, 7th on pommel horse, and finished 6th overall.

Raphaël Lauzon delivered an outstanding performance, especially on the rings, where he placed 4th. His ability to handle stress was a significant asset, boding well for future competitions.

Luca Lauzon also competed for the first time with great determination. Although he experienced some mid-routine nerves, he finished strong, placing 7th on floor and demonstrating his potential for growth and improvement.

National Open Level

Samuel Parent, while his results didn’t meet expectations, displayed courage and perseverance, drawing valuable lessons from the experience. This marks an important step in his development.
Junior National 17-18

Lucas Drennan excelled, earning crucial points for his season. Aiming to qualify for Elite Canada and the Canadian Championships, Lucas stayed calm under pressure and delivered a solid performance. He successfully qualified for these prestigious events and finished 3rd overall in his category, showcasing his consistency and excellent preparation.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics
For the female athletes, the 1st Quebec Cup provided an opportunity to shine across various categories.

N10 – 16 Years and Older

Mia Dion improved her total score by 4 points compared to last year, delivering a strong performance.

Eve-Marie Leblanc stood out on beam, securing a 5th-place finish, and also finished 6th on floor, demonstrating mastery and solid performances.

N10 – 12 to 15 Years

Juliette Trudeau dominated her category, finishing 3rd overall. Her performance solidified her status as a promising competitor.

N9 – 15 Years and Older

Mahelie Woo Sun Cheong performed well, placing 5th on floor and 6th on vault, showing her competitiveness in these disciplines.

N8 – 13 to 14 Years

Danica Majchrowicz impressed on beam, finishing 10th with a strong routine that showcased her skill on this apparatus.

N8 – 15 Years and Older

Sonya Patten had a successful debut, leaving a positive impression with her first competition performance and hinting at great potential.

Uneven Bars
Cassiopée Woo Sun Cheong excelled on the uneven bars, finishing 5th and demonstrating her strength in this apparatus.
