Vaudreuil-Dorion Toys “R ”Us closes its doors
The Toys “R” Us toy store on Boulevard de la Gare in Vaudreuil-Dorion will be closing its doors for good in the coming weeks.
Dozens of posters adorn the front of the store, announcing sales on all games, toys and baby items. At the time of Neomédia's visit on Friday December 13, several displays had already been stripped of their articles.
At the time of writing, no closing date had been officially announced. However, an employee interviewed on site told Neomedia that it is highly likely that the store will close before the end of 2024.
In recent weeks, several other Toys “R” Us, notably in Quebec City and Drummondville, have announced their closure.
In 2018, Fairfax Financial paid $300 million to acquire the Canadian division of Toys “R” Us, which was then under the protection of the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act.
In August 2021, Putman Investments acquired Toys “R” Us Canada, and the Babies “R” Us banner.
