To provide students with a stimulating outdoor environment, Marilyne Picard, Member of the National Assembly for Soulanges, has announced, on behalf of Bernard Drainville, Minister of Education, an investment of $236,003 for four schoolyard improvement projects in the Soulanges riding.

These projects will ensure optimal use in all seasons, as well as offering a variety of activities and games for youngsters. Students will benefit from outdoor spaces that encourage physical activity. An active lifestyle will help them to be better prepared for learning in the classroom.

“The school is an important living environment where our young people develop and flourish. I'm delighted to know that many Soulanges students will be able to enjoy a renewed, more dynamic schoolyard adapted to their needs. I'm convinced that these investments will contribute to their educational success“, she says. 

These investments have resulted in the following projects:

CSS des Trois-Lacs: 

- École Sainte-Justine-de-Newton: installation of a multisport surface;

- École Cuillierrier: development of a rest area and addition of plantings;

- École Sainte-Marthe: revitalization of sports equipment and lining of schoolyard;

CSS Lester-B.-Pearson: 

- Mount Pleasant School: addition of a psychomotor course and greening of the schoolyard.

Nationwide, the Quebec government is investing over $29 million in more than 310 elementary schoolyard improvement projects for the 2023-2024 school year.

“School exists for our children, and the schoolyard is an essential space for them: it's where they release their energy and socialize, and these moments play a key role in their concentration and success in the classroom. I'm delighted that so many of Quebec's schoolyards can be redeveloped thanks to this investment of more than $29 million by our government, which will enable thousands of students to benefit from a variety of physical activities, thereby helping to improve their concentration and performance in the classroom,” concludes Education Minister Bernard Drainville.
