Despite the strike
Canada Post to deliver letters to Santa Claus
Good news for children: despite the strike at Canada Post, letters to Santa will be sent to the North Pole.
Every year, nearly 1.5 million letters written by children are sent as part of Canada Post's Letters to Santa program.
In fact, the post office on Harwood Boulevard in Vaudreuil-Dorion has set up a special mailbox for letters addressed to Saint-Nicholas. Santa's elves will also be in Vaudreuil-Dorion on December 7 and 8 to collect letters from the Maison Valois.
Despite the walkout, letter carriers will be collecting letters from children Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to noon.
More time to write your letter
On Tuesday, Canada Post announced that it was removing the December 6 deadline for sending letters to the North Pole, due to the national strike.
In a press release, the Crown corporation said that once operations resume, it will ensure that all letters reach Santa and are answered. However, Canada Post cannot guarantee delivery dates.
