Stéphane Massicotte appointed Director of Vaudreuil-Dorion Fire Department
The municipal council of the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion announces the appointment of Stéphane Massicotte to the position of Fire Safety Department Director. Massicotte had been acting director since the retirement of Terry Rousseau last October. He officially assumes this position on Tuesday, December 3.
With the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion since 2014, he assumed the role of Operations Captain before being promoted to Division Chief - Operations in 2016. Prior to this, Mr. Massicotte was employed by the Coteau-du-Lac Fire Department, where he was successively Assistant Director (1996 to 2001), then Department Director (2001 to 2014). A firefighter since 1992, Mr. Massicotte has 32 years' experience in the fire safety field.
“Stéphane Massicotte stands out for his leadership and solid management skills. During his interim term as Director of the Fire Safety Department, he invested himself with determination and efficiency to ensure the organization's success,” said Olivier Van Neste, General Manager.
Mr. Massicotte heads a department of 68 employees, including management and administrative staff, firefighters, fire prevention technicians and school crossing guards.
The Service de sécurité incendie ensures the protection of people and property throughout the Vaudreuil-Dorion territory, on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at the Forbes and Lotbinière fire stations.
It manages firefighting programs and services, develops and implements prevention programs, and responds to emergency situations. It responds to calls in various sectors: fire, road accidents, hazardous materials spills and boating activities, as well as providing first responder services.
Finally, under intermunicipal agreements, it provides fire protection services for the municipalities of Pointe-des-Cascades, L'Île-Cadieux and Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac.
