On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the new Super C store was officially inaugurated in the presence of numerous employees, family, friends, citizens and members of management, as well as deputy mayor Alain Lapointe, who is also councillor for district no. 6.

“We're all delighted to welcome the opening of Super C in Rigaud today. After long weeks of anticipation, I'm sure that not only our residents, but all customers in the region, will be thrilled to discover this new store, and to be able to take advantage of an expanded local retail offer as of tomorrow,” said Deputy Mayor Alain Lapointe.

Thanks to an investment of $3.6 million, the 24,700 sq. ft. store employs 65 people, the majority of the former Metro's employees, as well as some 30 new faces.

“The addition of this new store is part of a roll-out plan that will enable us to
consolidate our position as one of Quebec's leading discounters. We are proud to say that we offer the best value for money,” says Loïc Cloutier, Senior Vice-President Vice-President - Super C.

“Rigaud serves not only a population of more than 8,000 residents, but also a large catchment area between the Ontario border and the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, not to mention the large number of out-of-town visitors who take advantage of our recreational and educational facilities and consume goods and services on their way home or during their stay. I'm thinking of the skiers, the parents of students attending Collège Bourget, the students at the Collège des douanes, and the entire workforce in our businesses,” continued Mr. Lapointe.

In return, Mr. Lapointe reiterated the importance of citizens continuing to encourage and promote local purchasing to ensure the success of businesses and enterprises.

“As elected officials, we are well aware of the pressure our town is under from outlying commercial outlets, whether in Hawkesbury or Vaudreuil. The arrival of Super C is therefore very welcome from the point of view of the local economy. Rigaud must be able to continue to offer a wide range of diversified, specialized and affordable products and services in the region, especially given its proximity to Highway 40, which makes it easily accessible.”

“Every business is a source of vitality for our village and neighborhoods. By buying locally, we save time and the cost of travel, and we save the environment. It also allows us to forge special ties with the owners and employees, who in turn personalize their offers and services. Everyone benefits from buying locally,” he concludes.
