In aid of Répit le Zéphyr
A good start for the 31st regional edition of Operation Red Nose
Opération Nez rouge (ONR) volunteers gave nearly 70 rides in the region this weekend.
For this first weekend of the 31st edition of the campaign in the Suroît region, all 68 rides were made in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. By way of comparison, in 2023, on the first weekend, a total of 39 rides were made in Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
Once again this year, the twelve evening rides will raise funds for Répit Le Zéphyr, an organization that offers respite and babysitting services to families in the region with one or more dependents diagnosed with an intellectual disability (ID) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
“This year, our goal is lower, since we will have fewer evening rides than last year. We expect to raise around $40,000 by the end of our 2024 campaign,” confided Jessica Mathers, the organization's Executive Director.
In 2023, the regional Opération Nez rouge campaign raised $45,000.
Volunteers needed
As it does every year, Opération Nez rouge is looking for volunteers interested in driving callers home. Those who volunteer their time will be eligible for attractive prizes, such as a $300 VISA prepaid gift card or a trip for 2 to a sunny Club Med destination.
