Future Les Coteaux community center to cost $4.5 million
At the regular meeting of the Les Coteaux municipal council, elected officials ratified a borrowing by-law to decree an expenditure of $4,527,000. This sum will be used to renovate a municipal building and convert it into a community center, according to information revealed during the meeting.
"This project is eligible for a PRACIM grant representing 65% of the investment. A second application will be completed and forwarded to the provincial government to cover the remainder," explained Paméla Nantel, Director General of the Municipalité des Coteaux, to an interested citizen during the question period.
The community centrewould be located on the premises of the current Town Hall, and more specifically on the current premises of the municipal garage and fire station. These two facilities will be relocated to a new building currently under construction on Royal Street. A small extension will be needed to accommodate a reception hall, and the backyard will also be redeveloped as a public square.
Ultimately, once redeveloped, the future community center, which will be annexed to the Town Hall and library, will include several multifunctional rooms to accommodate community organizations, the summer day camp and private receptions.
