Vaudreuil MNA Marie-Claude Nichols Encourages Public to Sign Petition on Flood Zone Mapping and Mobility.

Marie-Claude Nichols, MNA for Vaudreuil, is inviting residents to sign a petition launched as part of the review process for flood zone mapping and mobility.

Available on the National Assembly's website, the petition aims to raise government awareness of the impacts of the proposed mapping, request a postponement of the regulation adoption date, and maintain public consultations until all preliminary maps have been shared with citizens.

It’s worth noting that last September, the Montreal Metropolitan Community (CMM) released a preliminary map based on government requirements. According to these maps, over 1,700 buildings within the CMM-designated area of Vaudreuil-Soulanges could be heavily impacted by the new regulations.

Although the CMM maps are not final, they provide insights into the risk category a particular area might fall into if no changes are made to the flood zone regulations proposed in June by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Wildlife, and Parks (MELCCFP).

Citizens who wish to voice their concerns have until November 24 to sign the petition, which is available here on the National Assembly's website. Currently, the petition has 2,153 signatures.
