It was this Wednesday, November 6 at 2 p.m. live from the Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac Garden Center that the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Home kicked off the 14th edition of its annual poinsettia campaign. Big news this year: an official drop-off point in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.

Once again, the MSPVS, which also welcomes end-of-life patients from the MRC of Beauharnois-Salaberry in its facilities located in Hudson, will add a floral touch to the holiday season atmosphere in the homes and businesses of the region.

For this 14th edition, 2,650 plants are available to those interested. “You have to be quick to get them because they are going like hotcakes. Business calls have started and sales have begun. This year, it will be possible to collect your poinsettia at the Center Jardin Denis Brisson in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. We are very happy to offer this option,” said the communications manager at the MSPVS, Julie Asselin, at the opening of the press conference.

For this new partner and its owner, Chantal Brisson, owner, it was important to take part in this campaign which is close to her heart. The latter's mother has already participated as a volunteer in the assembly in the past.

Loyal partners

Present on site, the leaders of this colorful campaign, François Gaumont and Brigitte Bernier explained why they are involved in this community initiative. “We promised to commit for several years. It's a great cause and it's so magical when we prepare the poinsettias for delivery. We are really looking forward to seeing the volunteers who help us annually. Hurry if you want to buy one or more poinsettias. They will leave very quickly,” said the duo.

To sow happiness and color in the region, the MSPVS can count on loyal volunteers, but also on partners who are just as loyal. Among them, we can name the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion.

“It is important for our organization to support this great community initiative. Not only is the cause very important, but it must be told like it is: you are an essential service in the region. Thank you to the MSPVS and to all those who are supporting this campaign,” said the mayor of Vaudreuil-Dorion, Guy Pilon.

For his part, Sébastien Laliberté, general manager at Desjardins Vaudreuil-Soulanges, was also present with his colleague Richard Dubois to represent this long-time partner of the campaign.

“We have been alongside the MSPVS since the very beginning of the poinsettia campaign. It is a pleasure, every year, to renew our partnership. I have been in office for four years and have noticed how important this campaign is in the region. During the holiday season, we hear a lot about it. It's great to see the leadership of the proud duo at its head and the commitment of all the volunteers to this cause. Once again this year, we are investing $15,000 in this initiative. Well done,” it said.

For her part, Florence Daneau from the Center Jardin Vaudreuil-sur-le Lac said she was also happy to be able to get involved. “We are happy to be part of this great fundraising campaign. Thanks to the volunteers. It is a joy to have them with us every year in November to prepare the plants before delivery. Every year, people look forward to the campaign. »

Add color to living and working environments

Finally, the general director of the MSPVS, Pascale Boily, confided that the primary objective of this campaign is to make the region blush as much as possible in order to raise awareness among the population of the importance of supporting quality end-of-life care. offered free of charge by the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Home to local families.

“The campaign allows us to raise nearly $100,000 annually to support our mission. It’s a nice sum.” Last year, $97,653 was raised for the organization.

Poinsettias are sold for $35 (with a $15 tax receipt). They can be ordered now on the House's website: www.jedonneneligne.org/fmspvs/PST24 or by contacting the Palliative Care House directly at [email protected] or 450 202-2202. Buyers will be able to pick up their poinsettias at the location selected when ordering, either at the Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac garden center from November 25 to November 28 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. or at the Denis Brisson Garden Center from November 26 to 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
